The Adidas Swift Run 23 is an awesome-looking running shoe. Adidas says the Swift Run 23 is made of 50% recycled materials. The upper features a soft knit textile sock-like upper construction that gently cradles the foot to provide comfortable and snug fitting. The knit upper is also reasonably breathable.
With the sock-like design, the tongue is completely connected to the shoe. The rubberized Adidas logo on the medial and lateral sides provides the Swift Run 23 structure and aesthetics. The polyester padded design at the back, which also holds the pull tab firmly, adds more frills to this shoe.
The heel and ankle collar have adequate padding, and there is a soft inner lining for enhanced comfort. Besides, the removable Bounce insole made of memory foam is thick enough to absorb impact and create a bounce. The insole has a grippy texture to prevent slipping. You also have the option to replace the Bounce insole foam with customized insoles.
How Does Adidas Swift Run 23 Fit?
Adidas Swift Run 23 fits true to size. It is a touch wider for those with narrow feet. Hence, go a half size down if you have narrow feet. Besides, sock-like designs are better when they fit accurately. The good thing is that the Swift Run 23 knit upper stretches, so it takes the shape of the foot and provides a secure fit. Also, it has a lace system despite having a sock-like fitting, which can be used to dial in and obtain the most suitable fitting.
Adidas Swift Run 23 Sole Unit Design and Performance
The midsole of Swift Run 23 features the Bounce midsole foam technology, which is made of EVA. The Bounce foam is quite elastic and explosive than the Boost foam. Hence, you get adequate comfort, ground impact protection and a little bit of a forward push from chunky heel and significant heel drop. I haven't measured it, but it feels like an 8mm heel drop.
The outsole is covered with grippy rubber, making this shoe stable, especially on pavement. It is not an off-road shoe.
Adidas Swift Run 23 Performance
The combination of the Bounce insole and midsole foam is perfect. They work together to create a consistent bounce when running on the pavement. The bounce is not aggressive but is noticeable.
I find the Adidas Swift 23 exciting when doing easy short-distance runs, particularly on pavement.
What is Swift Run 23 for?
The shoe has been designed as a pavement running shoe. The slick design also makes the Adidas Swift Run 23 a perfect traveling or walking shoe. It is exceptionally comfortable for everyday walking.
I am neither using mine as a cross trainer nor an everyday running shoe since I intend to preserve the midsole foam. While the outsole offers adequate protection from abrasion, the bounce foam tends to lose its bounce with time, especially if overused. I just love the design, the comfort, and the 'cool' appearance, though far from retro style, so I use my pair of Adidas Swift Run as casual wear.
Unfortunately, the Adidas Swift Run 23 is a neutral running shoe that runners who need support, such as overpronators, find undesirable.
What to Expect from Adidas Swift Run 23?
- Soft knit upper material
- Sock-like Construction
- Beautiful Design
- Neutral stability
- Bouncy midsole foam
- Perfect for running on pavement
