Introduction

Adidas Runfalcon 3 was introduced in the market as a neutral running shoe by Adidas. The shoe received mixed reactions from customers. Despite being a budget-friendly running shoe, some runners found it to be too still, unresponsive, and insufficiently breathable. Other runners loved the solid upper design, somewhat firm midsoles, lightweight, and smooth heel-to-toe transition. Honestly, the first version had a stylish design with quality construction materials for a beginner running shoe. The midsole and outsole could last over 1000 miles. However, it was let down by the firm cushioning and lack of responsiveness.

What is New?

The Adidas Falcon 2.0 had significant improvements. Adidas removed the plastic cage that formed the lacing system. The second version also rides softer than its predecessor. The design of the Runfalcon 2.0 is top-notch, so the shoe can be confused with a lifestyle shoe. I have been using the Adidas Runfalcon 2.0 for everyday use. It has a perfect foot shape, but like its predecessor, it is not great on the run because the midsole is less compliant. However, it is good for short moderate-speed runs and perfect casual wear.

Adidas Runfalcon 3.0 Upper Design and Fitting

Adidas counted on the successes of Adidas Runfalcon 2.0 and introduced the new version, the Adidas Runfalcon 3.0. Like its predecessor, it falls within a lifestyle and a running shoe. This budget-friendly, neutral Lifestyle running shoe is one of the best beginner running shoes in the market. Adidas retained features like the flexible and moderately breathable textile synthetic upper material. Other notable changes are the removal of the synthetic lining in the midsole and altering the last eyelet positions.

In the previous version, there was a synthetic lining that also formed part of the lacing system. While that design reinforced a lockdown, it was somehow restrictive. By removing synthetic overlays, the toe box of the Adidas Runfalcon 3.0 is free from restrictions. The overlays are now placed across the toes to provide abrasion resistance.

Additionally, the last two eyelets are not extended into the ankle zone. Instead, they run parallel with other eyelets. Hence, the lace-up lacing system is neater than the previous version.

The tongue and collar have slightly more padding than the previous version; thus, there is improved comfort in Runfalcon 3.0. The Adidas logo is engraved on the tongue and is attractively conspicuous on foot. The overall instep comfort is commendable and can be enhanced by placing a preferred insole since Runfalcon 3.0 has a removable insole. The three Adidas stripes give the Run falcon 3.0 low-light visibility.

Adidas Runfalcon 3.0 has a comfortable upper. The generously padded upper hugs the foot, offering secure fitting, comfort, and midfoot hold. It also fits true to size for persons with average foot size. Besides, the toe box runs pretty wide. Thus it’s roomy enough to allow the toes to splay naturally.

There is no element of heel slippage since the heel counter is rigid enough to provide the needed foothold.

Adidas Runfalcon 3.0 Midsole Design and Performance

Runfalcon 3.0 midsole

Adidas retained the cloudfoam midsole foam to offer plush cushioning for a budget-friendly shoe. However, it is less compliant at a slow pace, thus performing well only at a moderate speed over a short distance. The reason is that the robust outsole rubber has cut down the cushiness of the cloudfoam midsole foam to produce significant ground contact.

Still, the outsole rubber is less rigid than traditional continental rubber. Hence, there is a noticeable rebound, particularly at a moderate pace. I also love the bevel heel area that makes the heel-to-toe transition seamless. Therefore, Adidas Runfalcon 3 suits heel strikers.

Overall, the midsole is well-designed for a beginner trainer. Adidas Run falcon 3.0 is comfortable and stable. It has a somewhat firm underfoot feel with an exciting, smooth ride at a moderate pace. Unfortunately, it is not ready, so I can’t attempt challenging races like tempo and fartlek runs. It is perfect for base runs (short-to-moderate-length distance) to accumulate weekly mileage. Additionally, it feels comfortable walking in the Adidas Runfalcon 3 all day.

The plenty of underfoot grip makes the Runfalcon 3.0 a versatile running shoe. It can handle numerous terrains, including grass, tarmac, concrete, light trail, and slippery surfaces.
