The sock-like design of the Puma Softride Premier Slip-On reminds of Adidas Puremotion 3.0, except for its solid appearance and additional detailing that makes the Softride Slip-on more appealing and premium. Besides, it is more of a training shoe by appearance than my pair of agile and soft Adidas Puremotion 3.0, which are only perfect for walking. I must confess that the beautiful red appearance is why I went for Puma Softride Premier Slip-On. Come on, I love roses.
Puma Softride Premier Slip-On Upper Design and Fitting
The upper design is precisely how I want it to be. It is knit material with a slip-on entry. The gusseted upper completes the sock-like design. The big difference is the overlay on the sides bearing a bold Puma logo that gives the upper structure a cool appearance. The single-layer knit upper is 100% synthetic. It is highly breathable, elastic, and thin. The toe box takes the shape of the foot. I also love the narrowness of the upper design. I can preempt problems for wide-footed runners. The pull tap at the heel makes slipping my foot in and out easy, besides creating a sense of style.
The Upper Design Looks Sleek and Modern
I have somewhat slim feet, and my pair of Puma Softride Slip-On fits true to size. I expect the same for anyone with a standard foot size because the upper mesh is stretchy. The fitting is snug and secure all around the foot. The heel has a good lock-in fit. It doesn’t slip. My only issue is that the upper material quickly catches dirt on dusty roads.
Puma Softride Midsole Design and Performance
Puma Softride Premier Slip-On is powered by full-length Softride midsole foam, Puma’s softest foam that offers excellent cushioning and around-the-clock comfort. The Softride midsole foam is also lighter than the traditional EVA foam. Hence, Puma’s Softride foam guarantees extreme shock absorption and responsiveness. Therefore, Softride Premier Slip-on has a soft underfoot feel.
The midsole has a rocker. The rocker shape is profound in the forefoot area, creating a seamless toe-off.
The soft midsole foam makes easy long runs exciting. The midsole is compliant and race-ready for sprints. I have a 10k and realized my foot doesn’t get support after a distance of tiredness. Due to its solid bottom, it works well with 5k runs and in the gym, especially lunges and squats. Therefore, the Puma Softride Slip-On is a versatile running, including being a casual wear.
The outsole is not left out in Puma’s tremendous design efforts. There are zone patterns in the outsole made of rubber pods of various rubber shapes and sizes. Traction and grip are good across surfaces like dirt, grass, and concrete, whether wet or dry.
